What we do
We'll take you through a set of questions to understand how human-centred design is working in your organisation as whole, or just your team. We’ll interview others to get a wide range of views.
We’ll identify your baseline and compare it to where you want to be.
How it helps you
You’ll get clarity around what your organisation means when it says “human-centred”.
You’ll have meaningful and practical insight into the maturity of your organisation or team, and recommendations on how to improve or maintain your baseline.
You’ll have an independent appraisal to point to in tricky stakeholder meetings.
Tailored strategy to grow & embed HCD
Ideal when:
You’re serious about implementing more human-centred design processes, but you need a plan, or you’re looking to build a business case for investment in HCD.
Duration: Bespoke to you, depending on your goals. Minimum 6 weeks.
What we do
We'll build on the outcome of your maturity assessment and make a plan. We’ll design repeatable and scalable processes that will help you meet your goals.
We’ll define the people, roles and capability you’ll need to support, advocate for, and do the mahi.
We’ll help you size the investment required and set goals to measure progress.
How it helps you
You’ll get clarity on how your organisation or team will intentionally design with and for people.
You’ll have an independent assessment of what HCD might cost, how you’re going to get there, and what success could look like.
Trial a Good People-led project end-to-end
Ideal when:
You want to see how human-centred design activities might work for you and you have an outcome in mind, or you want to improve your HCD projects with some support.
Duration: Between 6 and 12 weeks.
What we do
We'll support your team through an HCD process from discovery and definition to design and testing – even implementation if you’re up for it.
We'll establish what the trial needs to achieve, who you want to involve, and everyone’s level of capability.
We’ll co-design a programme of activities and support you to resource them appropriately.
We’ll run a retrospective to determine what worked, what didn’t, and how you could apply what you learned to future projects.
How it helps you
You’ll see how a set of human-centred design activities works within your context.
You can use the trial as a development opportunity for your team.
You’ll have a real-life story to share with your organisation or stakeholders, showing – rather than telling – how HCD works.
Monthly retainer: strategic partnership, leadership, coaching, & advocacy
Ideal when:
You want some leadership coaching, strategic advice or advocacy, or just some support to be more human-centred in how you operate with your employees or customers.
Duration: Custom, minimum 3 months.
What we do
We'll shape a plan based on your needs. It’s like co-design for your personal or organisational goals.
We’ll ask the right questions, validate or challenge your ideas, and help you think of the things you hadn’t considered yet.
Depending on your plan, we can meet regularly to tackle problems, or co-design stories to present to the exec, or coach you in specific HCD methods that you want to hone.
We’ll have a monthly retrospective of what we’ve done and how that tracks against your goals.
How it helps you
You can lean on our different, but complementary, skills while you're honing yours.
You’ll get two sets of eyes outside of the weeds - we’re independent and objective about whatever is going on with your project, team, or organisation.
You’ll have some senior muscle on your side when you need it.
Monthly retainer: capability building & people development
Ideal when:
You know your team needs support to
grow, but you don't have capacity. Or, your organisation is new to human-centred design and you’re not sure who to grow and how.
Duration: Custom, minimum 3 months.
What we do
We'll establish your goals for your people and make a plan to get there.
We can support development conversations with your team, co-design job descriptions, and support your recruitment efforts.
We can design formal and learn-by-doing training sessions, and even act as a senior oversight on projects when you can't.

You’ll benefit from our experience growing and managing teams that practise HCD.
You’ll get clarity on how to grow and retain the people that will realise your organisation’s strategic goals.
You’ll get a plan for training and development tailored to your people and your organisational goals.
Mentorship & career progression: 1-1 or group sessions
Ideal when:
You want some structure in your development as a human-centred design practitioner, or senior support to grow in a specific area of your practice.
Duration: Custom, minimum 2 sessions.
What we do
We’ll help you design a pathway to grow your career in HCD, tailored to the market in Aotearoa New Zealand. We'll map your current skills set against our custom HCD capability and skills matrix. It starts at graduate level and goes up to strategic leadership.
We can work with you 1-1, or as a group, to hone your skills on anything from specific methodologies to running projects, or being an ethical practitioner.
We can meet with you 1-1 ahead of performance and development reviews so you can clearly articulate your goals and achievements.
How it helps you
You’ll be able to see where your skills are and how you might specialise, or generalise, in different practices of human-centred design.
You’ll get targeted mentorship from two senior practitioners.
You’ll have access to a skills and capability matrix that is relevant to the work you do and love, instead of just making it up as you go.
